Behaviour Intervention Cycle
When students act out or display innappropriate behaviours, there is always a communicatative intent. The Behaviour Intervention Cycle aims to help teachers to understand what the student is communicating and implement strategies to support the student in developing appropriate behaviours and communication techniques. This process is not always simple as the communicative intent is not always easy to recognise. This is why documentation is an important part of the cycle.
This section provides ideas, checklists and forms that can assist in establishing what behaviours require attention, why and when they are occuring and how to document them. What are they communicating?
